A meditative experience progressing from inner concentration to a transcendent state.

Remastered Edition

Originally released in 2024, the album was later withdrawn from digital platforms to address audio imperfections and refine the editing. The remastered edition preserves the original structure and continuity of the composition while refining its sonic presentation through further processing and mastering.

Concept and Structure

Nada Yoga: The Depth of Stillness (TLM 4) is a 60-minute ambient composition by Gulan, conceived as a gradual transition from focused, contemplative listening towards a more detached and ultimately transcendent state of awareness.

The work unfolds across three parts, each approximately 20 minutes long. Distinct in atmosphere and sonic character, they form a continuous meditative experience, seamlessly connected without perceptible breaks. The first part establishes a meditative focus, the second deepens the inward experience, and the third gradually guides the listener back towards a more active state of awareness.

I. Entering

Slow harmonic movement, deep, warm drones and spacious synthesizer pads create an expansive, evolving soundscape. Delicate overtones emerge from sustained layers, while long, breath-like swells and subtle shifts in timbre gradually shape the sound. The music develops into an extended, almost static plateau, avoiding pronounced dynamic peaks. Beneath this apparent stillness, subtle textural changes sustain a sense of inner movement, inviting focused listening and a gradual turning inward.

II. Transcendence

The second part becomes increasingly restrained and sparse. Sustained tones, minimal harmonic movement and occasional sonic details create a sense of near-stillness. Repetition and subtle timbral variations draw attention to resonance and the finer nuances of the sound field. As the central phase of the composition, this section deepens the inward experience, allowing attention to move beyond individual sonic events towards a more detached state of awareness.

III. Return

The final part introduces greater movement, with an emphasis on low-frequency textures. A steady bass drone, reminiscent of the tanpura, provides the foundation, accompanied by distant sitar-like tones, wooden and string-like timbres, and ambient effects. The texture becomes more active than in the preceding section while retaining its meditative character. Gradually, the evolving soundscape guides the listener back from inward immersion, bringing the session to a measured and contemplative close.

Nada Yoga: The Depth of Stillness (TLM 4) is conceived as a continuous work in which stillness and subtle sonic movement coexist. Across its three parts, the composition traces a single progression: entering the meditative state, moving towards deeper inward awareness, and gradually returning.
